SoundBlocker Quilt is a superior laminate product offering a combination of improved sound absorption and sound blocking due to its unique 2kg/m² acoustic membrane laminated in the middle.
SoundBlocker Quilt consists of a sandwich of 25mm sound absorbing fibreglass, 2Kg acoustic membrane and another 25mm Acoustic Fibreglass.
It is up to 4 times more effective than normal Acoustic Mineral Wool due to the sound barrier layer sandwiched in the middle which effectively blocks airborne sound as efficiently as lead.
The SoundBlocker Quilt exceeds Part E of the new building regulations making it an essential element of any sound control measures in modern buildings, conversions and change of use.SoundBlocker Quilt can up rate a typical stud wall by up to 16dB!
SoundBlocker Quilt can up rate a typical timber joisted floor section by up to 13dB!

The soundblocker quilt used in this product is a sound absorbing glass fibre type product, manufactured from silica sand, the Earth's most abundant naturally occurring mineral. Glass mineral wool is one of the most environmentally friendly insulation materials. Inorganic and completely inert, over 70% of the raw materials used in the production cycle are recycled. This process does not include the use of CFC's, HCFC's or other environmentally damaging gases.

Because this product can cause irritation to the skin, protective gloves should be worn when handling the product and suitable protective wear including goggles should be worn when working above your head.
SoundBlocker Quilt is installed in a similar way to standard glass fibre rolls except they are lapped onto the sides of timber joists or stud framing and fixed in position with either staples or battens.
This helps seal the product into the void minimizing sound leakage past any joints. If installing within a stud frame do the same fixing method to the header plate and the sides of the studs.
Please Note: this product is made with 25mm fibreglass either side of the membrane but due to being shipped in roll form will come compressed overall to around 25mm. When unrolled, the insulation will quickly expand to its normal thickness of around 52mm
