The Silver Floor Cavity System reduces airborne noise
when installed under the floorboards and is particularly useful if any increase in the existing floor height is not desired.
This Silver Floor Cavity System is designed to improve the sound insulation of timber suspended floors so is not suitable for concrete floors. It is particularly useful if any increase in the existing floor height is not desired and will help reduce airborne noise from above and below. Both products have been featured on "Grand Designs" on Channel 4.
The system is also a very good prelude to further soundproofing that may be required on top of the floor to enhance the soundproofing properties of the insulated floor. This system is unlikely to reduce any footfall or impact sound that is made on the floor.

SoundBlocker Membrane
This innovative material utilises nano vacuum technology, synthetic rubber and special fillers producing a revolutionary acoustic membrane.
This award winning product is only 1.2mm thick and weighs just 2Kg/ m²so it’s easy to handle and carry.
It has won 4 award including DTI Most Innovative SME Award 2000 and the Arena Network Most Promising Environment Products Award 2005.
SoundBlocker Quilt
Our SoundBlocker Quilt consists of a laminate of 25mm Acoustic Fibreglass, 2Kg acoustic membrane and 25mm Acoustic Fibreglass.
It performs approx 4 times better than our Acoustic Mineral Wool as it has a barrier layer sandwiched in the middle which blocks airborne sound better than lead.
The SoundBlocker Quilt exceeds the new building regulations making it an attractive product for modern building. This product has been featured on the Channel 4 show "Grand Designs" You can see a video of how well it performs just on its own here
The system is supplied with the following products included;
A layer of SoundBlocker Membrane - (10m x 1.5m and 1.2mm thick) per roll
1 x Layer of SoundBlocker Quilt - (5m x 600mm wide) per roll
If you have experience of lifting floorboards then the system will be easy to fit otherwise a local handyman or second fix carpenter could undertake the work.

PLEASE NOTE: The figures above are based on the whole floor area and do not allow for the joists widths. This may means the figure quoted for SoundBlocker Quilt maybe slightly higher than needed.
We advise to always add a few extra of each product to allow for wastage from offcuts.
Please note: This system is effective at reducing normal noise levels, that should not normally be heard, for example talking, radio sound. We suggest you also use a suitable system on top of the floorboards as well. Music and bass noise will always be audible although its intensity should be reduced.
