(Syl) Linoroll 5 is a 5mm thick insulation designed to reduce impact noise through floors.  It is very easy to fit and is designed to be the resilient layer for use beneath lino, vinyl and ceramic tiled floors.

Use beneath vinyl or Lino

For use beneath Lino or vinyl it should be installed in exactly the same manner as the floor covering but for best results, must be glued down using a suitable latex type adhesive.  A tongue and grooved 6mm MDF flooring panel is then glued on top using the same lates adhesive leaving a 5mm expansion gap around the edges and with the joints also glued but this time with a PVA adhesive.  The floor covering is then installed on top and is laid in exactly the same way as it would be onto the bare floor.  We recommend that an experienced fitter is used for the installation.

Use under Ceramic Tiles

If a ceramic tiled floor is required then these should be of sufficient thickness to ensure that cracking or movement does not occur.  If in doubt we suggest a test floor is prepared with the (Syl) Linoroll 5 and tiles to initially assess the suitability of the tiles to be used.

Again, the Linoroll should be securely glued down with a suitable latex type adhesive and once the MDF thin panel has been installed on top, the tiles are fitted as normal.  For fixing of tiles and grouting of the joints, it is very important that a flexible adhesive/grout is used otherwise cracking may occur of both the joints and possibly the tiles.

It is very important that the above instructions are carried out as stated to obtain the best results from your newly sound insulated floor.
