Thin Wall Soundproofing System

The M20AD system of soundproofing a party wall has been ordered for use to upgrade the soundproofing of more party walls in Braintree.  The popular Thin Wall soundproofing system is preferred because it takes up minimal space at only 45 to 50mm overall thickness depending on the thickness of Acoustic Plasterboard and yet can help reduce normal noise levels from neighbours that you would not normally expect to hear..  Provided there are no flanking noise issues where sound can flank around the wall the M20AD solution will be in excess of the minimum Building Regulation requirements of 43dB for any existing wall that is being upgraded.  M20AD when tested on a single skin masonry brick wall returned an airborne soundproofing value of 48dB.  M20AD is produced using recycled vehicle tyres and to our knowledge, is the most effective soundproofing treatment at minimum thickness.  For more information on M20AD go to the domestic section of our web site www.keepitquiet.co.uk

Acoustic Plasterboard

When upgrading the soundproofing of a wall or soundproofing a ceiling, you will almost certainly require plasterboard and the best plasterboard to use is high density Acoustic Plasterboard.  This is because it has a higher mass then normal plasterboard and double thickness of this is required on ceilings and stud partitions alike.  A double thickness is also required in our Thin Wall Soundproofing system that replaces the thicker stud partitions.  For more information on these products, go to www.keepitquiet.co.uk

Soundproofing Mats

Soundproofing mats are the preferred choice of many of our customers.  This is because the 2mm thick heavy mats are ideal for helping to soundproof lightweight structures such as stud wall partitions.  When sandwiched between two layers of high density Acoustic Plasterboard, they decouple the mass breaking it up into a sandwich of unequal mass making the panels much more efficient at cutting down noise penetration of the wall.  Go to www.keepitquiet.co.uk for more information on our products.

Acoustic Underlay

Our 4.2mm Acoustic Laminate Underlay has again been the preferred choice for one of our customers in London combined with our 2mm SBM5 soundproofing mat.  When used as the acoustic underlay beneath laminate floors it will help reduce the inevitable impact noise resulting from walking on a hard surface and also airborne noise due to the additional reverberation that is caused when noise bounces off all the hard surfaces within the room where the laminate flooring is installed.  This acoustic underlay system is easy to install and can be conducted by any person that is used to DIY.  First the Soundproofing Mat is laid over the floor to seal up the joints in the original floorboards and can be tacked down with staples or felt nails.  Then the Acoustic Laminate Underlay is installed on top without fixing and finally, the laminate flooring installed on top according to the suppliers instructions.  For more information on this system, go to our web page Acoustic Laminate Underlay.

Gold Carpet Acoustic Underlay System

A customer from Glossop had a problem with noise from the lounge below being heard through his bedroom floor at times when he wanted to sleep.  He did not want the upheaval of taking the floorboards up or work on the ceiling below that would have disturbed his ornate coving so we advised him to use our Gold Carpet Acoustic Underlay System to replace the normal underlay beneath his carpets.  Although this meant there would be a slight increase in the carpet height, it was an easy to install method of soundproofing the floor with minimum disruption.  The Gold Carpet Underlay System of soundproofing is one of the most popular methods of soundproofing a floor due to its ease of installation.
